Dear friends!
 I decided to write  to all of you in an effort to try to help my 12-years-old cousin. Her name is Irena and she lives in Bulgaria. She was diagnosed few months ago with  Autoimmune Thrombocytopenia. This is a rare blood disorder distroing her platelets (thrombocytes), which play crusial role for blood coagulation. This disease makes her prone to prolonged bleeding, which can be life-treatening when affecting her internal organs or brain. Irena went unsuccesful treatment with corticosteroids, from which she developed severe side effects including beginig osteoporosis and marked swelling of her entire body. Her doctors prescribed treatment with a medication called WinRho (Anti-D), which is manifactured only in Canada and available only in North America. This medication is very expensive - $1300 per dose, and she would require a dose once every 3-4 weeks for several months as initial therapy.
